Lonicera x heckrottii 金光忍冬or 京紅久金銀花

Lonicera x heckrottii (Caprifoliaceae)

(luh-NIS-er-a heck-ROT-ee-eye)

Goldflame Honeysuckle

Lovely tubular flowers of yellow, pink and carmine bloom in flushes from spring until frost. A very tame Honeysuckle (unlike the rampant Japanese Honeysuckle) that can be trained to climb fences, trellises, etc. Vining Honeysuckles do not cling directly to masonry or wood; a support must be provided for them to climb on. This 5-15' vine varies in height according to the size of the support you provide. All who see it at the nursery are quite impressed with the beauty of the flower color and the fragrance. Heaviest blooming occurs in full sun in well-drained locations. A wonderful backdrop to the perennial garden, or loosely spilling over a wall.Introduced prior to 1895 its a cross between L. sempervirens and L. x americana the selected form Lonicera x heckrottii 'Gold Flame' is not that different.
